How to get to the dune ?

It is totally safe to reach the Pilat dune by bicycle or on foot in all seasons !
Leave your vehicle behind and take the time to admire the surrounding nature.

How to get to the dune ?

● By plane
Bordeaux-Mérignac Airport (45 minutes driving to the Grand Site) : flights from Paris, Marseille, Nantes, London, Madrid, Rome…
Take the 30 minutes direct shuttle to the Bordeaux Saint Jean train station from Hall B departure entrance (45 minutes).

● By train
From Bordeaux Saint Jean station, take the 32 Bordeaux-Arcachon line and get off in Arcachon station (50 minutes).

How to get to the dune ?
By bus
At the Arcachon train station take the Baïa Bus Line 1 in the direction of Plage de la Salie and get off at the Pilat dune stop (25 minutes). 
All year round 
At Le Teich take the Baïa Bus Line 6 in the direction of Plage de la Salie and get off at the Pilat dune stop (40 minutes).
During the summer only
 At Biscarrosse take the XL’R Bus Line 46 to Arcachon and get off at the Pilat Dune stop (1 hour).
During the summer only, Saturdays, Sundays and Bank holidays

● By bicycle
The Arcachon Bay is a part of the Atlantic coast cycling path:  Vélodyssée : You can certainly follow it to the Pilat dune.

You no longer need to choose between a Grand Site visit and a bike ride; both can be done thanks to the numerous Arcachon Bay cycle routes.  Cycling tour ideas can be found at  www.bassin-arcachon-velo.com

The Pilat dune and the Idune information desk are labelled "Accueil vélo", a national mark that guarantees a warm welcome and quality service to all cyclists.

Do not hesitate to travel the cycle routes !

● By boat
It is possible to access the dune from the ocean side with the Arcachon Boatmen Union (UBA) sea shuttles, or by your own means.

● By car
From Bordeaux, take the A630 and then the A660 towards Arcachon Bay / Biscarrosse. Exit at D259 towards the Pilat Dune / Biscarrosse.

How to get to the dune ?
There is a car park at the Pilat dune reception area. By paying (credit cards only), you contribute to the maintenance and preservation of this fragile natural space.

The access to the dune remains free if coming by bus, or bicycle.

To avoid degrading our forest and to benefit from all the  free services sat the reception area, please park your vehicle in the car park and not along the road.

● Dogs are allowed on the site as long as they are kept on a leash. 

● For your safety and to respect the Grand Site, it is strictly FORBIDDEN to light fires, camp out and practice sliding sports such as skiing, sledding, snowboarding, sand boarding, etc. on the dune.
