A history rich with unexpected developments

The story of the dune traces 4000 years of climate variation.

Born of a complex interplay between sand, winds and tides, the dune is characterised by the overlapping of the 2 forms of dune :

    •      U or V shaped parabolic dunes range in height from 20 to 40 m for 1 km in length
    •      Crescent-shaped barchan dunes range in length from 2 to 8 km at height top of 20 to 80 meters.

During their progression, barchan dunes butted up against parabolic dunes and covered them.
