« Grand Site de France » label

The goal of the Syndicat Mixte de la Grande Dune du Pilat.

This label is one of the tools offered by the French Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Energy (MEDDE) to meet the objective of responsible and sustainable management of the Grand Site.
It is not the landscape, but the condition and management of the site that are recognised by this label. It is now part of the Environmental Code and is awarded by the State for a period of 6 years, renewable.

Label values :
● a rehabilitated site
● a locally managed site
● the welcoming of visitors
● a sustainable and responsible tourism
● a project contributing to local development

By joining the Grand Sites of France Network, and in accordance with sustainable development principles, the Syndicat Mixte has committed to implementing sustainable management practices in order to obtain the "Grand Site de France" label.

Today there are 15 members of the Network with the status of "Grand Site de France".
